The Critic’s Choice Awards: Best Actress Jessica Chastain in Prada/Jimmy Choo

Jan 13 2013

Hard work really pays off.. just ask Jessica Chastain!

The Zero Dark Thirty actress flew from New York City (where her Broadway play The Heiress is showing) to Los Angeles on the same day to attend the 2013 Critic’s Choice Awards. The plane ride wasn’t for nothing though, as she came home with one of the night’s biggest awards – Best Actress! She won against Jennifer Lawrence, Marion Cotillard, Emmanuelle Riva, Quvenzhane Wallis and Naomi Watts.

She wore a floor length v-neck dress by Prada, accented with Harry Winston jewelry and the Jimmy Choo Tease platform in Champagne Glitter. The fashion critics weren’t really crazy about Jessica’s ensemble – most felt she can do better – but hey, she came in from New York and went straight to the Barker Hangar for the event. Give the girl a break!

‘Girls’ Premiere in NYC PLUS! Solange Knowles’ Printed Just Cavalli Suit and Bottega Veneta Strappy Sandals

Jan 13 2013

There’s the print on print trend, and then there’s this geometric suit from Just Cavalli’s Pre-Fall 2013 Collection.

Let’s just get this out in the open: not everyone can pull off a combination of prints as strong as these. It takes a good, strong woman not to be swallowed in the mixture of patterns and colors. And Solange Knowles is the woman for the job.

Here’s a close look at her ensemble:

Personally, I would’ve just gone with a plain black clutch and classic pump stilettos.. just to keep the attention on the pant suit itself. She paired it with black and white strappy sandals by Bottega Veneta:

‘Girls’ is quickly being pegged as HBO channel’s next ‘Sex and the City’ as it is also about four different types of girls living and loving in New York City. Have you guys seen the show yet? What you you think?

We’ve got more goodies from Bottega Venetta here:

The 2013 People’s Choice Awards Roundup PLUS! Designer Goodies from Zappos Couture

Jan 10 2013

And the results are out! We’ve got the latest buzz on the recently concluded 2013 People’s Choice Awards. First off, it was quite the night for the Hunger Games fans as the book-turned-movie franchise raked in most of the big awards of the night including Favorite Movie, Favorite Action Movie, Favorite Movie Franchise,  Favorite On-Screen Chemistry (Jennifer Lawrence / Josh Hutcherson / Liam Hemsworth) and  Favorite Face of Heroism (Jennifer Lawrence) – way to go Tributes…the odds were definitely in your favor!

If you ask me though, I’d have gone for the Scarlett Johansson/Jeremy Renner thing for the Best On-Screen category. I couldn’t get them out of my head days after I watched the Avengers! Also, despite its huge following around the globe, The Walking Dead was bested by Leverage for Favorite Cable TV Drama and by Supernatural for Favorite Sci-Fi/Fantasy TV Show.

Other big winners include Katy Perry who won three awards including Favorite Pop Artist and Favorite Music Video. Meryl Streep was also honored for simply being awesome or more formally – Favorite Movie Icon. Well, deserved!

Meanwhile, here are some of out top picks from Zappos Couture – Happy Shopping!
